Making time for Him...

Its very easy to be lethargic and procrastinate especially when it comes to spending time with the Lord. The demands of this generation are to keep us busy 24/7. We get 24 hours each day to spend...we do so much for ourselves...outlining our time consumption would reveal how much we do for ourselves...but how much of our 24 hours do we spend for Him?
Honestly, I don't spend much....I wish I did...I tell myself each day, 'I will spend time meditating on the Lord's word tonight'...when tonight comes, 'Lord, please forgive me, I am too tired so even if I read I won't understand your word'! When I think about the amazing things that God has done for me...I feel so ashamed...I feel like an infidel part of His creation....I need His words to guide me each day but I do not make time for Him.
But, when I do spend time with Him...putting aside all the stresses of the world....He eases them all out for me and leads into a brand new day with Him!
Do you spend at least an hour with Him? Its easy to just expect Him to listen...but how often do we listen to His kind voice instructing, guiding and loving us? He deserves at least that from us for all that He has done for us.....Come on, let us make time for God...'coz when we put Him first, everything else will follow, I know that I've experienced that!

I do it for His glory NOT mine!

If anyone knows me well, they'll know that I am VERY competitive. I am not proud of it but I struggle with that spirit. In the need to do well, be the best and for wrong motives, I signed up to do an extra course. Although I knew that this was hard work and I was already busy, pride encouraged to go on. Although I've only just started the course, I realize that it is not very easy and that I can't drop it without facing painful consequences. I did what I normally do in these circumstances....CRY!
God made me realize that we're to trust Him and ask Him to do what is best for us. We must pray that our motives are right and that all we do is to glorify His name and NOT our own. Although I am still uncertain about what to do, I trust that the Lord will give me a way out and lead me to where He wants me to be.'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me'!
So lets rely on Him every single step and go forward with pure motives and understand our capacity in Christ!

A thought provoking message from Annaliza:

'Is everyone taking this in…Sept 11 (NY) bombing, Jan.11 (Haiti) and now March 11th (Japan) in Luke 21:10-11, Jesus said to his disciples, “Nation will rise against nations and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. Jesus says for behold I come quickly, and in Mathew 24:7...Us kingdom people need to tighten up our lions. No human being knows when the son of God will come but I know that we’ve got to be ready. I don’t want you to be those left behind when Christ calls his people and I pray that God doesn’t allow us to be either. In Jesus name! Forward this to people letting them know that Christ is coming soon ..stay blessed y’all!'

Someone sent it to me, I don't know who, but it really made me reflect!

There could never be a more beautiful you...

No matter how many decades pass by, every generation finds a constant need to seek fame or impress others. We always find the need to look good and many around the world aren't satisfied with the way they look. From weird piercings to changing the colour of their iris....the need to look good is making people crave for some satisfaction.
Recently, I heard about 'The New Colour Iris' - this allows people to change the colour of their beautiful, God-given eyes permanently...but after the procedure was done, the results these people faced and are still facing is shocking and very sad.
Although many might shake their heads, why do people want to change the way they look?
Its the need to impress others, stand out of the crowd, they're searching for satisfaction and above all, try to imitate role models, icons and celebrities. From wearing certain clothes, to going to the gym to shed some weight, people just search for satisfaction. We all feel that way sometimes - 'I wish I was like that!' - I've been there too!

But we've got to remember that we were made in His image, we are part of God's handiwork and He has made us perfect. By trying to change ourselves or seeking for something more, we degrade the work of His hands. We all are beautiful in our own way! Magazines and other forms of media project an image that is so fake, things are certainly NOT what they seem. Jonny Diaz's song 'More Beautiful You' reveals the shocking behind the scenes activity in many of these 'beauty' photo shoots. We do not need to conform to the expectations of the society, most of it is fake and edited! We ought to be satisfied, happy with who we are and praise God for His beautiful creation.
So, instead of wasting our energy in complaining, lets be grateful and use th energy in something worth while! Remember, we all are beautiful in our own way!

His ways are not our own...

Recently, I was reading my Bible on the bus. Usually I sit upstairs but decided to sit down, usually I sit at the front but decided to sit at the back - I don't know why! A lady who sat opposite me was watching and sat next to me. I didn't take much notice and continued to read. Hesitantly, she spoke to me, encouraging me and giving me a study on the Lord's will - she was a Christian and what she told me struck me - 'It is important to do His will in all that we do'. I knew that God spoke through that lady to me, she wanted to give that study to someone else but felt the urge to give it to me. It dawned on me that, all this while, I have been planning to do so much but haven't really wondered if that was God's will for me. I suddenly realized that His ways are different, He knows better. He used various unlikely acts to teach me something.
Likewise, this weekend, after Saved to Serve, on my way home, I felt the urge for forgiveness. I cried out to the Lord in my mind, seeking His grace and asking Him to open doors, lead the way and stir my life in the direction that He wants me to. When I was still unsure, I looked at the sky ( I don't know if this was co-incidence, but I believe He was behind this event), rays of light were falling down through the clouds and the clouds formed the shape of eyes. I was overwhelmed with a feeling of peace that God in in control and that He has heard my prayer.
Isn't it wonderful how He uses weird events to show you what He thinks and what we ought to do? His ways are certainly not our own....so lets seek Him for guidance and wait patiently for am answer!

Saved to Serve - Review

This weekend, we went to a 'Saved to Serve' weekend run by the Grace Baptist Mission. The weekend was filled with mind blowing teaching by Richard Weston (Friends International) and Jim Sayers, workshops on how to reach different communities and displays and information on getting involved with evangelism.
I have learnt that Evangelism is vital in today's society; we serve an awesome God, who is God to all, thus it is vital we tell people about Him. Good company is vital in a world that is constantly turning away from the one true God, the Christian fellowship there was amazing. Surrounded by like-minded people, I was able to realize that many have the same passion for God, I have also learnt a lot from the experiences of many. It is vital that we realize the world's need for God, when we have the best news ever, why remain silent? Lets pray for opportunities to share the gospel to people of all nations and cultures.
The weekend was amazing, in a scenic place, with great friends, good food, compelling thoughts, this is by far, my favorite weekend that will remain a memorable, life changing one for years to come! We also had great fun, playing games and speaking to many young Christians from various backgrounds. I want to start working for Him who made me, right now!
